About Florida Septic
Florida Septic is a family-owned and operated business producing
over 10,000 septic tanks a year. Started in 1961 by Treston and
Dulcie Vause, the company has grown to become the largest employer
in their hometown, Hawthorne, Florida.
Treston and Dulcie were founding members of the Florida Onsite Wastewater Association (FOWA) and
a driving force in improving the standards of the septic tank industry.
The keys to the company's phenomenal
success have been it's extensive inventory and close eye on the
industry. Florida Septic remains involved with state legislation, with flexibility built into the
manufacturing
process to fabricate tank forms according to changes in
state regulations.
Accurate tracking and projection of industry sales and trends have
contributed to Florida Septic's position of prominence over the
years.

The people behind the company
After Treston passed away in 1987, his wife, Dulcie, and daughters,
Ellen, Susan, and Nancy, continued the business in the same spirit
with which their father
had run the company. A dedicated family of employees and an environment that
encourages people to excel keeps the company innovative and flexible.
Joan "Ellen" Vause,
President
Ellen handles day-to-day operations, including precast operations,
pricing policies, hiring, sales, and marketing. One of a handful
of females holding
a master contractor's
license in Florida's septic tank industry, she has served as past president
of both FOWA and the Florida Wastewater Recycling Association (FWRA) and
as an officer
of the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA). She serves
on the Board of Certification for Environmental Health Professionals and
has consulted
for the Dept. of Health (DOH), Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP), and
the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Susan Vause Palmer, Vice President
Susan manages the accounting department,
insurance, and computer purchases, and she is supervisor of safety.
She handles community
relations as well
as donations
and support for local school programs and children's recreational leagues.
Susan is a member and past president of the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce.
She is treasurer
of the Hawthorne Women's Club and a member of the Gainesville Builders
Association.
Dulcie Vause, Secretary/Treasurer
A founding member of the company,
Dulcie remains involved by managing accounts receivables and consulting
on all areas
of the business.
William "Bill" Robinson, General
Manager
Bill has been with Florida Septic for over 30 years,
and he knows the business inside and out. As the general manager,
he oversees many aspects
of the company,
including Florida Septic's inroads in environmental responsibility.
He also monitors the quality control of our products
and ensures our fleet
of trucks
are kept
in top condition.
Donald Crosby, Sales Manager
A 26-year veteran of the industry, Donald
manages sales and client service at Florida Septic. He makes sure
orders are filled and
delivered promptly
around the state of Florida. This involves coordinating Florida
Septic's large product
inventory and busy delivery schedules. He assigns cranes and
equipment based on customers' needs and sees that everything
is taken care
of the way it
should be.
